Well, tomorrow makes 25 Weeks! We had our 6 month doctor's appt. today and everything looks great. The baby's heartbeat was in the upper 140s/lower 150s (it was hard for the doctor to tell the baby was moving around so much). The ultrasound report looked good; the baby's growth and development is right on schedule.
We did have one adjustment to make this past week to Katherine's thyroid medication. She is hypothyroid and the dosage had to be increased, but not a big deal, just a few added pounds.
Stuffy, our 17 year old cat, is becoming a challenge all her own. She was recently diagnosed with ringworm requiring a medication that can cause birth defects so Katherine can barely touch her and James has to give her her meds. She was also diagnosed as being diabetic. Tomorrow, she will be at the vet getting her first insulin shot. It is isn't one thing with one pet it is another.
The baby continues to be quite active, especially after meals.
And the Baby Shower is soon approaching...November 12!

23 Weeks!
Well, we have reached the 23 week mark! We had our third ultrasound and have added those pictures to the website. A few more ultrasounds and our baby could have his or her own home video before even being born! Speaking of "his or her," we did try again to see what the gender was. The angle was less than ideal for such an inquiry. The technician said she thinks our baby is a girl but she is not sure. So we are going to proceed with the baby shower colors of both blue and pink and with our baby shopping assuming the gender could be either. The baby weighs one pound and the heart rate was a healthy 146.
On September 22, we lost our dog, a golden retriever Katherine had for almost 10 years, to cancer. We don't know if it was because Katherine was so upset that day or what, but on the 22nd of September those little movements became regular karate kicks, enabling James to feel the baby move for the first time last week. The last few days the baby seems to be trying to work out a deal along the lines of "You eat, then I'll say 'Hi' with a kick!" Or perhaps that week of strong kicking just wore him or her out and he or she is taking it a bit easier this week.
Katherine is feeling quite well and has been occupying herself with our remaining pet, the cat - Stuffy, cleaning, a latch hook rug kit, and a pregnancy message board. Our next appt. is on October 17th, at which time we will go over the new ultrasound photos and reports and get the full instructions for that oh-so-fun glucola test.
We'll keep you posted! Please keep the baby in your prayers.
