Welcome to our new site.
Not much has happened with the pregnancy over the past few weeks. We went to the doctor's office several times. Everything continues to look fine. The baby has dropped. We have no idea when labor will begin but both of us are very anxious to get this baby out! We have our names list narrowed down to several choices for a girl's name and a boy's name. Our suitcase is ready. Now, we are just waiting...and waiting...and waiting...... Please keep us in your prayers.
We have another doctor's appointment tomorrow. So maybe we will post some more information tomorrow.
Rest assured that when something BIG happens, you will know...sooner or later!

35 1/2 Weeks!
Well, our 35 week appt. went well. The baby's heartrate was a steady and healthy 147. The doctor said she believed the baby to be in a head down position, which is good, and which also is consistent with the baby's movements and kicks. Most movements seem to be polar with squirms and rolling motions in the lower abdomen and soccer kicks to the ribs. The baby also seems to like to kick the cat when she is laying on Katherine's tummy purring - we figure it wakes him or her up.
We have washed all the baby clothes and organized them to be ready for use. We are also all packed for the hospital. We plan on washing the crib bedding soon so it too is ready. We took our half-day childbirth class. We are also already pre-registered at the hospital. Our next doctors appt. is January 13th, and then once a week after that. Oh, and since there was some confusion on the pastor's part concerning our baptism class, we re-scheduled it for the evening of January 3. We also are narrowing down name choices as well as baptism dates.
Needless to say, we are both very anxious and ready for the little one to arrive. We hope everybody had a great Christmas, and we hope you have a joyous New Year!

33 Weeks!
Well, 7 weeks to go! Or thereabouts! The baby's movements have become a bit more subtle as he/she continues to loose space in there. We gave our birth plan to our doctor, and everything continued to look good at our 32 week appointment. Funnily enough, cravings have calmed down a great deal. The only thing Katherine seems to consistently crave, stereotypically enough, is Baskin Robbins Chocolate Ice Cream. James has been craving the Baskn Robbins Butter Pecan.
We are in some of the final stages of preparation - preparing the small suitcase for the hospital, preparing stuff for the baby's arrival here at the apartment, and the like. Our next doctor's appt. is December 30th, so, barring any surprises, our next baby update will probably be at week 36.
On our pet update, Stuffy, our now diabetic cat, will need to receive not only daily insulin shots, but regular fluids as she has now been diagnosed with kidney failure. Between Biscuit and Stuffy, we now feel that any skinned knees and booboos should be easy as pie.

29 Weeks!
29 Weeks! Well, 11 weeks to go! The baby shower went well. We think and hope everyone had a good time. There certainly was plenty of good food! The cat's blood sugar levels are slowly improving. And she has been switched to a low allergen diet which seems to have slowed her itching. Hopefully she will eventually be fully covered in fur again. Never realized before how grateful we should be that cats are covered with fur - without it they resemble rats!
Katherine passed her glucose test. Just barely, but, hey, passing is passing! Blood Pressure is good. Baby's heartbeat is steady in the upper 140s/lower 150s. Dr. said Katherine is measuring right on target. Our next appt. is on December 9th. We have begun putting together the crib and sorting through baby clothes and trying to get things set up. We've installed the base for the car seat in the car. We have registered for our birthing class which will be in mid-December and we also signed up for the baptismal class at our parish which will be in early December. Can't deny it - time is growing short! But there seems to be sooo much to do!

25 Weeks!
Well, tomorrow makes 25 Weeks! We had our 6 month doctor's appt. today and everything looks great. The baby's heartbeat was in the upper 140s/lower 150s (it was hard for the doctor to tell the baby was moving around so much). The ultrasound report looked good; the baby's growth and development is right on schedule.
We did have one adjustment to make this past week to Katherine's thyroid medication. She is hypothyroid and the dosage had to be increased, but not a big deal, just a few added pounds.
Stuffy, our 17 year old cat, is becoming a challenge all her own. She was recently diagnosed with ringworm requiring a medication that can cause birth defects so Katherine can barely touch her and James has to give her her meds. She was also diagnosed as being diabetic. Tomorrow, she will be at the vet getting her first insulin shot. It is isn't one thing with one pet it is another.
